About Us

Welcome to All My Cravings

Joanna Cismaru, food blogger and cookbook author behind All My Cravings, smiling in her kitchen.

I’m Jo. This is my blog, technically, but that’s a bit like saying the kitchen is mine. Everyone else lives here too.

I do most of the cooking, writing, and testing. I’m a cookbook author, a former software developer, and a person who has been blogging for over a decade, which is long enough that I remember when we all thought Pinterest was a fad. You might know me from Jo Cooks and Craving Home Cooked.

What I do here is take complicated recipes and make them doable, without stripping out the part that made them worth cooking. Every recipe on this site got tested in my own kitchen. Usually more than once. Always eaten by somebody.

That somebody is Remo, my husband, who is the reason this whole operation runs. He sets up the cameras, wrangles the tech, and handles the accounting and the back end things I have decided to stop understanding. Bless him.

He’s also a serious sandwich guy. If there’s bread involved, he’s already in the kitchen. He doesn’t cook as often as I do, but when he does, I sit down and let it happen.

We’re both Romanian, so food was never going to be a small thing for us. Remo grew up with a mom who cooked properly every single day. When we got married, cooking turned into our thing. We still argue about how salty something should be. He’s always right, apparently.

How We Cook Around Here

Food should be simple, satisfying, and a little bit too much in the best way. Life is complicated enough. Dinner doesn’t have to be.

One pot pastas. Cheesy bakes that feed a crowd. Desserts that look like you fussed and absolutely did not. If it works, tastes incredible, and earns back the time you spent on it, it belongs here.

No fussy instructions. No ingredients you have to drive across town for. We cook the way most people actually cook, on a weeknight, with a dog underfoot and somebody asking what’s for dinner before the fridge is even open.

If I don’t love it, it doesn’t go up. That rule has never moved.

Meet The Doodles

me and my babies.

I can’t talk about this kitchen without the 2 who run it. Jack Ryan and Han Solo, our extremely loyal and extremely spoiled doodles.

Jack is the younger one. Clingy, jealous, and fully convinced he’s the star of this blog. He’ll hold eye contact with you while you stir a sauce, on the off chance something falls.

Solo is the calm one, right up until a toy enters the house. Then he’s on a mission to de-stuff it, and he will see that mission through no matter how tired he claimed to be 5 minutes earlier.

Between them they handle crumb patrol, floor cleaning, and emotional support during recipe testing. You won’t see them in many photos. They’re always just outside the frame, waiting.

Life on the Acreage

We live on an acreage in the Alberta foothills now. Big skies, a lot of wind, and the sound of nothing at all, except me yelling Remooooo, there’s something weird in the yard.

I said once that I related a little too hard to Green Acres and I stand by it. I still love my coffee machine and my grocery delivery app and indoor plumbing. We also have a greenhouse and a growing season behind me, which past me would find hilarious.

We’re still figuring it out. That’s most of the fun, and most of the material.
